So what exactly is cellulite anyway?
That dreaded “orange peel” or “cottage cheese” skin
is a condition many women (and some men) suffer from. The subcutaneous
(under skin) tissues are made of a web of connective tissue, where
much of a woman’s body fat is stored. The bumpy, puckered
look of cellulite is caused by enlarged fat cells adhering to the
upper layers of skin and shrivelling under certain conditions.
Contributing to the “mattress” effect is fluid retention,
the storage of environmental toxins, hormonal factors, and lack
of circulation.
When circulation within this web of connective tissues
becomes blocked, cellular waste stagnates, and these tissues harden
as
the skin loses its elasticity. The puckering or “mattress” effect
is caused by this act of shrivelling, dimpling and adherence of
the skin to the fat and connective tissue.
Common areas of concern
(like you didn’t know!) are of course,
the butt, the thighs and the upper arms.

What the research says...
Research undertaken in Germany has proved that after 66 ten minute
Power Plate sessions over 6 months cellulite was reduced by 26%.
By adding cardio specific exercises to the equation, and increasing
the length of the sessions, the reduction was increased to 32%.
No significant changes were recorded in the control group, who
did no training at all.
So how does Power Plate® blast it away?
Power Plate® training will help to encourage weightloss and
reduce the appearance of cellulite through increased circulation
and oxygenated blood flow. This aids the lymphatic process of removing
toxins and works to increase the release of growth hormones, encouraging
the production of collagen to help keep skin looking younger and
fresher.
By holding different poses on the machine’s vibrating platform
you can easily target particular problem areas of the body where
cellulite is prone to linger, such as your butt and thighs.
Cellulite Buster Sessions
The whole process of Power Plate® training helps cellulite,
but if it’s a concentrated effort you want, pre-holiday perhaps,
then we’re talking one-to-one hands on massage with a Personal
Trainer combined with the Power
Plate®.
When should I see a difference?
We recommend 3 x 25min sessions a week for optimum results.
You should see and feel a difference after 1 month – this
however, will depend on the severity of the case!
Sessions will
consist of a warm up, a bit of stretching, a mix of cardio exercises
on the Plate, and deep tissue hands-on Power
Plate® massage on YOUR target areas!
Whilst Power Plate® deep
tissue massage works to flush out toxins, you need to avoid
eating things that build them up in
the first place...and drink plenty water to help your body
function efficiently. Avoiding things like caffeine, full-fat dairy
products
and processed foods, and going for herbal teas, lots of vegetables
and wholegrains instead, will smooth your skin from the inside
out!
