Holly needs her wand to do magic. But one day, Holly loses her wand and is very sad. Ben uses his elf skills to find it again. Holly accidentally breaks her wand and must go to the Wand Factory at the bottom of the Great Elf Tree to get it fixed.

I'll be honest, I had to Google Ben and Holly to find out who they were - if you have children older than seven years old, like I do, then you may well not have come across them either: let me enlighten you! Holly Thistle (more commonly known as Princess Holly) (voiced by Sian Taylor) is an 8-year-old fairy, and one of the titular protagonists alongside her best friend, Ben Elf. She is a cheerful, tidy and clever princess who lives with her parents, King and Queen Thistle, her younger twin sisters, Daisy and Poppy and the royal family's nanny, Nanny Plum. She likes to use magic despite the risk of things going wrong, a reference to the great curiosity in young children. She likes playing with Ben Elf and there is a lot of platonic love between them. The duo befriends a caterpillar called Betty, who wishes she could fly, and King Thistle advises them to fatten her up. They soon get a big surprise the next day! Ben is in training for the elf games, Holly wants to join in but the rules state there is no flying or magic allowed. Ben gives Holly one last chance to join in without using her magic. They say that at the end of every rainbow is a pot of gold. So rainbows are a pirate's best friend - if you're looking for treasure. But, if like Captain Squid, you are hiding treasure. Rainbows are a pirate's worst enemy!Redbeard the Elf Pirate sets sail to find the lost city, but soon finds himself in trouble and in need of saving.

Ben and Holly meet some of the friendly aliens [from Picnic on the Moon], and a small green one called Zyros, who are on holiday when their flying saucer crashed into Earth. Mr Elf is Ben Elf's father and Mrs Elf's husband. He is very serious and often likes hard work. He is the food deliverer to the fairies and elves and delivers presents to Father Christmas. He once was a sailor and he quite enjoyed being one until a fish known as "Big Bad Barry", ate most of his boats after that experience he decided he will not sail again. He retired and instead worked to deliver food to the people of the Little Kingdom. Mrs Elf (voiced by Judy Flynn) is Ben Elf's mother and Mr Elf's wife. She is a very caring and cheerful female adult elf who enjoys taking holidays (although it was her desire thanks to Mr Elf's hardworking attitude which probably kept them from doing so). Mrs Elf is like a typical housewife, helping out with her family's chores. Mrs Elf also help the family out by making food. Mr. Elf has built a new boat to replace the one Big Bad Barry ate. So Mr. Elf is very nervous when the king commands him to take them all on a cruise to a tropical paradise. Will Big Bad Barry strike again?It's Father's Day in The Little Kingdom and all the dads are given a day off work to go and play together in the meadow. Ben and Holly are surprised to learn that The Wise Old Elf is a dad too, with three sons of his own. Holly is left in charge of the Little Kingdom while her parents are away. However, though, it isn't as easy as it looks, especially when she tries to give people ice cream - it makes ice cream non-stop to the point it causes a flood. Zyros (voiced by Bram Karek) is an alien that lives on Planet Bong. He gets offended when he is called a baby, he likes magic jelly and he has a fear of big people. According to him, he and the other aliens get smaller as they get older. King Leopold has announced he is paying a visit to The Little Kingdom. Everyone is very excited that they have a VIP coming and preparing to welcome him in style. King Thistle is feeling left out... he is a king too! After a mishap involving a demonstration of the magic money chest and buttons, King Thistle tries to do a job to get a gold coin, with chaotic results.
